Corruption in the health sector can be a matter of life and death. When funds are wasted due to inefficiency, poor decisions, and corruption, people's health suffers.

Out of the $8.5 trillion spent on health services worldwide, about 7% is lost to fraud and corruption. This means $560 billion is wasted each year. This amount could more than cover the annual $370 billion needed to achieve universal health coverage by 2030, a major goal set by the United Nations.
