October 20, 2022 - We are delighted to announce three new appointments to our Board of Trustees.

Anne Zaki, Cat Evans and Xenia Wickett bring with them a wealth of experience from the private, public and third sectors. More details are below.

The trustees join as Transparency International UK is in the second year of its current ten-year strategy, Stopping Corruption, Promoting Integrity, which focuses on tackling corruption in the UK, Britain’s role in corruption overseas, and corruption in global sectors critical to international security and development.

The new Trustees are:

Anne Zaki

Anne Zaki is Human Rights Policy Manager with Meta Platforms (formerly named Facebook) where her focus is understanding the rights risks associated with the use of Meta’s platforms in North and Southern Africa and working to mitigate those.

Prior to this Anne spent more than ten years focused on the humanitarian development and assistance sector. Her areas of specialism highlight the protection and impact of conflict on civilians. This has included roles in the UK as Senior Policy and Planning Advisor for Europe at International Rescue Committee and Syria Programme Manager at Synergy for Justice.  Anne also did several deployment roles with the International Committee of the Red Cross including as Protection Team Leader in the Philippines, Delegate for Protection of Civilian Population in Iraq & Head of Office – South Sudan. In the Middle East she has held roles for the International Catholic Migration Commission in Jordan, FCDO in Egypt, and Save the Children UK, Egypt. She has positively contributed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace and continues to prioritise this aspect of organisational development. Her career has exposed her to a range of humanitarian situations that intersect with broader societal and social issues. Anne joined the Board of TI-UK in October 2022.

Cat Evans

Cat Evans joined Independent Diplomat in spring 2020 as the Director of European Operations and African Outreach. She has extensive diplomatic experience gained from a UK government career specialising in conflict affected and fragile countries working on a range of political, security, development and humanitarian issues. Cat was the British Ambassador to Mali and Non-Resident Ambassador to Niger (2018-2020) where she oversaw the expansion of UK engagement in the Sahel and was a member of the International Mediation for the 2015 Algiers Peace Agreement. Prior to this she was the UK’s Deputy Head of Mission in Ethiopia (2015-17), where she was also responsible for co-ordinating government security activity in the region and UK policy for Somaliland. Her first posting was also in Africa, where she worked on security sector reform as an Adviser in the Sierra Leone Ministry of Defence (2006-07). In 2008-09, Cat deployed to Basra as a Policy Adviser to UK military leaders commanding British forces in south-east Iraq, covering a surge in operations up until UK withdrawal. In 2011, she joined the British Embassy Kabul to lead the political section, with a personal focus on regional dynamics and reconciliation initiatives, having previously spent two years focusing on these issues and Pakistan’s tribal areas in the British High Commission in Islamabad (2009-11). Back in the UK, Cat worked on counter-terrorism for the 2012 Olympics and led a two year cross-Government review to examine the impact of the UK’s EU membership (2012-14). She has also led various crisis management responses in the field, including the evacuation of UK nationals from Libya. Cat joined the TI-UK Board in October 2022.

Xenia Wickett

Xenia Wickett is Director of Wickett Advisory, an advisory and executive coaching business that draws upon geopolitical, strategy and management experience to help organisations and individuals realize their potential. She also serves on the faculty of the Chatham House Academy for Leadership and on the executive board of The Pilgrims UK. Prior to Wickett Advisory, Xenia was the Vice President of Political Analysis and Integrity Due Diligence at Equinor. She has also served as head of the US and the Americas Programme at Chatham House and the dean of the Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs. Previously, Xenia held positions as the executive director of the PeaceNexus Foundation and director of the project on India and the Subcontinent and executive director for research at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center.  She has worked in the US government, academia and non-profit worlds covering US foreign policy, America’s role in the world, and geopolitics in South Asia.  She served with the US government as director for South Asia on the National Security Council and at the State Department as special adviser at the Homeland Security Group and as an officer in the Bureau of Non-Proliferation. Shortly after 9/11, she was detailed to the US Office of the Vice President to help launch the Office of Homeland Security Affairs. Xenia joined the TI-UK Board in October 2022.
