Programme Internship (Paid) – Corporate Political Engagement Index

 Two positions available:

  • 3 month placement (April-June 2018)
  • 5 month placement (April-August 2018)
  • Full time (35 hrs pw)
  • Salary: £17,745 per annum (pro-rata)

About us

Transparency International UK (TI-UK) is the country’s leading anti-corruption non-governmental organisation, and is part of a global coalition sharing one vision: a world in which government, business, civil society and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. The goal of our Business Integrity Programme is to raise anti-corruption standards in the private sector.  We aim to ensure that individuals and organisations do not participate in, enable or endorse corruption.  Further information can be found here.

Through the Corporate Political Engagement Index, we assess the public reporting practices of companies in relation to their global political engagement. The Index was first published in 2015 and in 2018 we will release the second edition. A copy of the 2015 edition can be found here.

About the roles

We are looking for two bright and energetic interns to support the Corporate Political Engagement Index during the crucial research and analysis phases. This is a great opportunity to gain insight and first-hand experience of how research and programmes work, as well as insight into a global NGO and movement.

Between April-June 2018, a key aspect of the internships will involve gathering data to assess the transparency of companies’ political activities, with one role staying on between July and August 2018 to additionally support the publication of the Index. In addition, you will:

  • Engage with companies being assessed
  • Analyse and verify data
  • Enter programme data into our CRM
  • Assist with programme administration
  • Arrange meetings/calls
  • Draft meeting minutes and take notes
  • Proofread and copyedit
  • Assist in the preparation of the programme’s weekly update
  • Help to capture programme experience and learning

About you

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Good organisation skills, with quantitative/qualitative research experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (familiar with MS Office)
  • Some background in completing admin tasks and experience of an office environment
  • Interest in the CSO/NGO sector
  • Background in political science or data analysis (ideally)
  • Experience with a CRM (such as Salesforce) would be an advantage
