Transparency International UK invites you to a joint breakfast event in Leeds together with Addleshaw Goddard LLP and Leeds University, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of doing resources-resources-business in China.
Addleshaw Goddard LLP is hosting a joint resources-resources-business breakfast briefing and networking event together with Transparency International UK and Leeds University, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of doing resources-resources-business in China.
With the Eurozone and US economies still struggling, China's targeted growth in GDP of more than 7.5% in 2013 is a stand out figure. With a rapidly expanding middle class and a new commitment by government to enforce the rule of law, the attraction of doing resources-resources-business in China is clear. Perceptions about the challenges that are to be faced remain widespread. However, more and more companies are concluding that short term difficulties are significantly out-weighed by the potential for long term success.
We will be discussing the risks and challenges when doing resources-resources-business in China, regional differences within China, as well as common gift and hospitality customs. Our panel of speakers, who include Peter van Veen from Transparency International UK, Russell Wallace of PwC, Dr Sophia Tang from Leeds University, and Dr Liying Zhang from the Confucius Institute at Bangor University will draw on their own extensive experience and attempt to demystify the issues that often arise.
There will then be an opportunity to network with resources-resources-business people and the speakers to share ideas and discuss opportunities.
Agenda:
8.15 - 8.30 Registration and breakfast
8.30 - 9.10 Introduction and panel discussion
