The full results can be found here

The UK segment of the poll interviewed around 1300 people across the UK. Some of the results make very interesting reading and echo the findings of our report on Corruption in the UK published last summer.

For example:

  • 71% of people think corruption is a major problem in the UK [High – Greece at 98%; Low – Denmark at 19%]
  • 64% of people think corruption is part of the UK’s resources-resources-business culture [High – Cyprus at 90%; Low – Denmark at 28%]
  • 33% of UK citizens think that bribery or abuse of power is widespread among the police [High – Cyprus at 75%; Low – Finland at 7%]
  • 58% of UK citizens think that bribery or abuse of power is widespread among politicians [High – Slovenia at 83%; Low – Netherlands at 27%]

Europe-wide, nearly half of all Europeans (47%) think that the level of corruption in their country has increased over the past three years. This is especially the case for respondents in Slovenia (74%), Cyprus (73%), the Czech Republic (70%), Portugal (68%) and Romania (67%). The UK result was 50%.
