Briefing on the Second Reading of the Serious Crime Bill
In this briefing Transparency International UK (TI-UK) evaluates how well the Serious Crime Bill responds to the threat of money laundering of the proceeds of international grand corruption through the UK and the City of London. Ahead of the Queen’s Speech TI-UK published 10 Tests: Can UK Legislation Tackle Corrupt Capital? This briefing assesses the Serious Crime Bill against those tests. Whilst the Bill appears to address some of the problems identified in the 10 Tests, many serious gaps remain.
