Transparency International’s Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Programme discusses the accusations against Boots of exploiting an NHS scheme to boost profits.

Ken Clarke was the UK Anti-Corruption Champion. Really. In the September 2012 re-shuffle, the government seemed to forget that it had a Champion, and it took several weeks, a Parliamentary Question, a letter to the Secretary of State, and a couple of contradictory responses, before the Champion emerged.

The Government announced last year that it would publish its first-ever National Anti-Corruption Action Plan. Since TI first proposed this idea five years ago, we have been arguing that the Government should draw up such a plan, and we are delighted that it is now happening.
