EXPERT CONSULTANTS
Introduction
Transparency International UK (TI-UK) is a registered charity, one of the UK’s leading centres of anti-corruption expertise and part of the global Transparency International anti-corruption movement with chapters in over 90 countries. In response to a changing regulatory and legal environment, and known demand from the private sector, TI-UK intends to create a sister organisation to offer anti-corruption training and advisory services. The new organisation will be a social enterprise, operating on a non-profit, but fee-earning, basis – with any profits donated to TI-UK.
We are seeking to build a panel of 6-10 expert consultants, who will work for TI-UK on such assignments. We would not expect the expert consultants to work for other similar organisations while a member of the TI-UK panel. This would typically suit an early-retired company executive, who will not depend on the fees as a sole source of income, and has particular empathy with the aims and objectives of Transparency International.
We aim to recruit and train the expert consultants over a six-month period, and it is unlikely that fees will be paid during the training period. We estimate the training will take the equivalent of 10 days. Thereafter, we will market the services to companies, and expert consultants will be deployed as and when available and according to their skills and experience. There will be a fixed daily rate of remuneration paid to expert consultants while on assignment, as well as for preparation and write-up time.
Key tasks
The following tasks will be undertaken by expert consultants:
- Participate in training when appointed to the panel, and in periodic refresher training
- Assist in developing products and services
- Work on assignment individually or as part of a group of experts delivering training, benchmarking or other anti-corruption advisory services.
- Plan assignments working closely with client companies to ensure that products and services are suitably tailored.
- Deliver, when required, high-quality reports to clients – for example, an anti-corruption system gap analysis benchmarked against TI’s best-practice systems
- Where possible, generate additional business.
Key skills
Some or all of the following attributes will be necessary:
- Knowledge of the private sector, particularly compliance, risk management and/or training
- Understanding of corruption and empathy with the aims and objectives of Transparency International
- Knowledge of corporate anti-corruption systems
- Good people skills – ability to work with clients and as part of a small team of experts
- Ability to plan and deliver training or benchmarking services
