Description
The conference will look at the interface between corruption and human rights, with particular reference to corruption and human rights violations as drivers of the Arab Spring. Topics include:
- understanding the Arab Spring and prospects for reform
- the role of non-judicial initiatives such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in promoting good governance and transparency
- international interventions including asset freezing and asset recovery
- the importance of social networks in the uprisings.
Speakers will include The Rt. Hon Clare Short, Laurence Cockcroft (TI-UK), Seema Joshi (Amnesty International), Catarina Tully (formerly FCO), Anthea Lawson (Global Witness), Arwa Hassan (TI) and others. View the full conference programme here
