Transparency International UK’s contribution to the passing of the UK Bribery Act has been recognised with an award for excellence from one of the UK’s leading charity publications Third Sector.

On 23 September, at a ceremony in London, Transparency International UK was announced the winner in the Big Impact category of the 2010 Third Sector Excellence Awards. This category was for charities which had successfully run campaigns that ‘had had a substantial impact on national or international life’.

The judges recognised TI-UK’s outstanding work on the Bribery Act during its passage through Parliament. The two other finalists for the Big Impact award were The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

John Drysdale, the Chairman of Transparency International UK, said:

‘Very many congratulations to the team and all who worked so hard for the enactment of the Bribery Act.   This prestigious award recognises TI-UK’s work for wider public benefit and, hopefully, will help to increase public awareness of the importance of stopping bribery and corruption at home and abroad.’
