Robert joined Transparency International UK in 2008. He was previously Director of Governance & Sustainable Investment at F&C Asset Management, and CEO (Europe) of the environmental research group Earthwatch.

Transparency International is the world's leading anti-corruption organisation. Robert is responsible for ensuring that corruption stays at the forefront of the national agenda in the UK, and promoting the highest standards of integrity for UK-based organisations operating overseas. He specialises in engaging the private sector.

At F&C, one of Europe's largest investment companies with £'102 billion of assets under management, Robert was responsible for coverage of the pharmaceutical, defence, oil and gas and tobacco sectors, and also supervised policy and research for F&C's award-winning ethically-screened funds. During his tenure at Earthwatch, he led the charity's work on 'business and biodiversity' and established a pan-African training programme for young scientists. He has published more than fifty academic and non-academic articles on topics ranging from ecosystem services to corporate corruption. He has also published articles and statements as an independent expert in many CSR reports including those of BP, BAE Systems, Mitsubishi and Rio Tinto.

Robert is an Honorary Visiting Fellow of Green College, Oxford.  He is a member of the Board of the Environment Council, the University Court of Oxford Brookes University and the Advisory Committee of the UK Export Credit Guarantee Department.  Robert holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence and a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.
